ManoMano was delighted to host Ann Daniels, Polar Explorer & Motivational Speaker, at our final company meeting of the year yesterday to discuss leadership and overcoming challenges in an ever-changing world.
A record-breaking polar explorer, a renowned international speaker and a Guinness world record-holding polar explorer, Ann Daniels is the first woman in history, along with expedition teammate Caroline Hamilton, to reach the North and South Poles as part of all women teams.
She started out in the polar world as a mother of triplets with zero knowledge about the outdoors. Ann spent nine months teaching herself everything from navigating with a compass in whiteout conditions to cooking on a stove the size of a grapefruit in order to be invited onto her first expedition, a unique relay to the North Pole.
During yesterday’s meeting, Ann gave our Manas & Manos (remotely and physically in our headquarters) great revelations through her experiences during polar expeditions. People often encounter challenges at work similar to the problems she faced on expeditions in the North Pole. What makes the difference is moving forward with the right mindset, being bold from idea to action but also through trust and collaboration between our teams. The same things that move our Manas & Manos every day through this challenging yet exciting journey!
